The Los Angeles Fire Department will conduct a voluntary evacuation drill for residents of Nichols Canyon on Sat., Sept. 6 10a-12:30p. One week later, the Page Museum at the LaBrea Tar Pits will host the 17th Annual Emergency Preparedness Fair. Seventeen city departments, emergency services organizations and county and state agencies will demonstrate how to handle a natural (or man-made) disaster and distribute FREE samples of emergency products. Officials and staff from the City of Los Angeles Planning Department will hold a public hearing on proposed new zoning restrictions for Larchmont Village on Tuesday, August 12 from 5-6:00 p.m. at the Pan Pacific Park Senior Center, 141 South Gardner Avenue.
Councilmember LaBonge proposed several restrictions last fall to help preserve the scale and character of this popular shopping village. This spring, the planning department held workshops in the community to gather feedback from residents and stakeholders.

Join the Los Angeles Police Department and your neighbors at events celebrating the annual National Night Out. The program promotes cooperation between the public and police departments to create safe and vibrant neighborhoods. You can eat free In-N-Out Burgers and Hot Dogs (while supplies last) and pick up free trees from Milion Trees L.A. at North Hollywood Park at Magnolia and Tujunga boulevards. Wilcox Ave., will serve hot dogs, popcorn and snow cones from 5-8 p.m. There will be face-painting, jumpers and an appearance by Dora the Explorer. Admission is free.

Project Y!MBY (Yes! In My Backyard) is holding it's third annual social service expo for homeless people in Hollywood and West Hollywood. They're offering immediate housing and social services for the homeless.

The hike is sponsored by Sister Cities of Los Angeles and commemorates the 75th Anniversary of the Screen Actors Guild.
We’ll hike up the Mt Hollywood Hiking Trail…1 1/2 mile to the summit where we’ll view the City of Angels, in 360 degrees of splendor until sunset and enjoy the twilight. Special transportation will be provided for those who may need assistance.
